Course Description:

Play therapists are uniquely positioned to detect abuse through verbal disclosures, behavioral presentation, and symbolic play themes. "Mandated Reporting in Play Therapy Settings: Ethical, Clinical, and Legal Responsibilities” course equips clinicians with a developmentally informed framework for identifying reasonable suspicion, assessing concerning play patterns, and fulfilling mandated reporting responsibilities in Illinois, including DCFS requirements, the CANTS-5 form, and hotline procedures.



Course Objectives: 


Objective 1 - Apply the Mandated Report Decision Tree within a play therapy context.

Objective 2 - Identify indicators of suspected child abuse or neglect within play therapy settings.

Objective 3 - Evaluate play behaviors and clinical presentations.




Play Therapy Toolbox is an Approved Provider with the Association for Play Therapy. (APT Approved Provider #18-533).
